Bravo! Bravo! AirAsia! Skytrax’s 2014 World Airline Award has just announced AirAsia as the best low cost airline in the world, and it is for not the 1st or 2nd, but the 6th consecutive year! Airasia is truly the champion of my homeland, Malaysia.

As we all know, or maybe you still wish to know, Skytrax World Airline Award is based on a global survey conducted annually over a 10 month period, covering over 245 airlines and 18 Million passengers around the world. Standards measured from the survey include 41 key performance indicators of airlines’ front-line products and services. As the award was voted by real passengers, the result reflected literally the satisfaction index of air travelers towards carriers.

Winning it for the 6th consecutive years means a lot to an airline. It is truly a tremendous success for Airasia which started just 15 years ago in 2009. Popular budget airlines around the world that AirAsia outperformed include Ryanair, Jetstar, Easyjet, Air Berlin, Norwegian and others.

I’m so lucky to reside in Malaysia where I can fly whenever I like with AirAsia to various top travel destinations across Asia. Some of the destinations that I have traveled with Airasia include Osaka, Seoul, Phuket, Bali and London (Check out my travel map Here).

I have some experiences with a number of award winning airlines and airports before. If I were to compare the quality of services provided by them with other airlines, I have to say I had better flying experiences with AirAisa. Innovation is the key of their success until today.

As I said before, I love Airasia for its pricing transparency. Budget travelers can always get cheap or even free air fares if they could decide when and where to go well in advance, and book it at the right time. Every 6 months or so AirAsia runs a Zero Fare campaign. It is a great oportunity for budget conscious travelers to grab extreme low fares to fly to all Airasia flights. For travelers who need pre-select seats, check-in baggage and meal on-the-fly, they can always purchase them as extra. Other than that, there isn’t any hidden cost. This is called transparency.
