<p>A lesser known tourists&#8217; site in London if compared to those big names such as Big Ben or Tower Bridge, <strong>Camden Markets</strong> is still worth to be included in your <a href="http://www.travelfeeder.com/category/europe/london-europe" target="_blank">London travel</a> itinerary. Especially for those shopaholic, Camden Markets is the best place to shop for alternative fashion and accessories, clothing, antiques, souvenirs and food. Originally a weekend market, Camden Markets is now open 7 days a week which draws over 100,000 people in each week.</p>
<p><a title="Camden Markets34 by Cecil Lee, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/27954114@N05/4915074083/"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4080/4915074083_64750fe30a.jpg" alt="Camden Markets34" width="500" height="409" /></a></p>
<p>Camden Markets are a number of adjoining markets located in Camden Town, a city in North West of London and 2.5km away from <a href="http://www.travelfeeder.com/travel_tips/in-london-city-centre-my-western-europe-travel-experience-day-2" target="_blank">London city centre</a>. Take the London Underground via Northern Line from Charing Cross to Camden Town station and you will be greeted by the colourful shops and crowded streets once you step out of the station.</p>
<p><strong>Travel Tips:</strong> <em><span style="text-decoration: underline;">The exit way of Camden Town Underground station is closed from 1300-1730 on Saturday and Sunday to prevent overcrowded at the station. Get there either before or after the afternoon if you are visitors taking underground.</span></em></p>
<p><a title="Camden Markets2 by Cecil Lee, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/27954114@N05/4915656616/"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4096/4915656616_0044380b8c.jpg" alt="Camden Markets2" width="500" height="340" /></a></p>
<p>The first open market of the series you will see after a short walk from Camden Town station is <strong>Buck Street Market</strong>. Don&#8217;t confused by its giant banner that reads as &#8220;<em>The Camden Market</em>&#8220;. It&#8217;s not the only market in Camden Town. It&#8217;s only one of the market selling mainly clothing. Quite disappointing if you are looking for trendy fashion.</p>
<p><a title="Camden Markets3 by Cecil Lee, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/27954114@N05/4915657514/"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4093/4915657514_77ded076f2.jpg" alt="Camden Markets3" width="500" height="334" /></a></p>
<p>Walking along Camden High Street will lead you to all the famous markets in Camden Town. There is another smaller <strong>Inverness Street Market</strong> selling foods opposite of the Buck Street Market.</p>
<p><a title="Camden Markets4 by Cecil Lee, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/27954114@N05/4915053653/"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4098/4915053653_e20b3ce9d6.jpg" alt="Camden Markets4" width="500" height="332" /></a></p>
<p>Other than markets operated by stalls, there are also many shops along the Camden high Street selling cloths, fast food, crafts and so on.</p>
<p><a title="Camden Markets7 by Cecil Lee, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/27954114@N05/4915659994/"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4116/4915659994_c477a0bd5e.jpg" alt="Camden Markets7" width="500" height="334" /></a></p>
<p>Strolling further down the road is the original <strong>Camden Market (Camden Lock Market)</strong> located just beside the <em>Regent Canal</em>. It&#8217;s the visitors main draw during the weekend. There are also open cafe and restaurant at the dock. Unfortunately, I was there on Monday and there are only a hand full of stalls open.</p>
<p><a title="Camden Markets8 by Cecil Lee, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/27954114@N05/4915660830/"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4119/4915660830_ab744826f6.jpg" alt="Camden Markets8" width="500" height="370" /></a></p>
<p><a title="Camden Markets9 by Cecil Lee, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/27954114@N05/4915056933/"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4096/4915056933_4cee87b202.jpg" alt="Camden Markets9" width="500" height="373" /></a></p>
<p>Camden Lock Market is at the end of Camden High Street before the <strong>Chalk Farm Road</strong>. When you come to Chalk Farm Road, you are about to enter the largest market in Camden Markets, called the <strong>Stables Market</strong>.</p>
<p><a title="Camden Markets10 by Cecil Lee, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/27954114@N05/4915057531/"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4122/4915057531_48b86b776d.jpg" alt="Camden Markets10" width="500" height="366" /></a></p>
<p><a title="Camden Markets13 by Cecil Lee, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/27954114@N05/4915059875/"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4123/4915059875_cef70b1f83.jpg" alt="Camden Markets13" width="500" height="390" /></a></p>
<p>Many food stalls are operating along the entrance of Stable Market, from Asian, Indian to Western fast foods.</p>
<p><a title="Camden Markets15 by Cecil Lee, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/27954114@N05/4915665692/"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4123/4915665692_0d0f2c7298.jpg" alt="Camden Markets15" width="359" height="500" /></a></p>
<p>Stable Market is built on the former Midland Railway stables and horse hospital with one section of the market sits right underneath the railway. You can see many shops are built within the railway viaducts.</p>
<p><a title="Camden Markets16 by Cecil Lee, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/27954114@N05/4915666422/"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4074/4915666422_dd9ef1baba.jpg" alt="Camden Markets16" width="500" height="368" /></a></p>
<p><a title="Camden Markets17 by Cecil Lee, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/27954114@N05/4915062565/"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4098/4915062565_503754447f.jpg" alt="Camden Markets17" width="500" height="371" /></a></p>
<p>We were crossing to the other side of the railway through the Horse Tunnel Market.</p>
<p><a title="Camden Markets18 by Cecil Lee, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/27954114@N05/4915667740/"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4074/4915667740_17d6ea1742.jpg" alt="Camden Markets18" width="500" height="387" /></a></p>
<p>Jewelry stalls along the tunnel.</p>
<p><a title="Camden Markets19 by Cecil Lee, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/27954114@N05/4915668336/"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4136/4915668336_6752d252a8.jpg" alt="Camden Markets19" width="500" height="393" /></a></p>
<p>The other side of the tunnel is an open market. There is a giant horse head at the exit / entrance of the tunnel.</p>
<p><a title="Camden Markets20 by Cecil Lee, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/27954114@N05/4915064775/"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4120/4915064775_123f32d0ce.jpg" alt="Camden Markets20" width="354" height="500" /></a></p>

<p>Skylights are put up for a covered pedestrian shopping street along and railway viaducts which was converted into shops.</p>
<p><a title="Camden Markets25 by Cecil Lee, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/27954114@N05/4915672632/"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4117/4915672632_f5a1d5e5f8.jpg" alt="Camden Markets25" width="303" height="500" /></a></p>
<p>Fancy anything selling here? Do you want to buy something home?</p>

<p>The flagship store of <strong>Cyberdog</strong> is located in Stable Market, Camden. It is specialised in bright fluorescent dance clothing, often featuring electronic components such as flashing lights inside and other accessories.</p>

<h2><strong>Overall Travel Score : 84%</strong></h2>

<li><strong>Verdict: </strong>There are so many shops and eateries in a number of markets that spread along the high Street and Chalk Walk Road. Huge crowds are drawn into the markets every day especially weekend for foods and clothing. However, don&#8217;t expect Harrods kind of crowds and you should look elsewhere for International branded designer fashion or luxury goods. – <a href="../" target="_blank"><em>Travel Feeder</em></a></li>

<p>They might be little known to People outside of EU 10 years ago, but now, the Canary Islands are among the busiest travel destinations in Spain and <a href="http://www.travelfeeder.com/travel_tips/top-5-reasons-why-you-should-visit-europe-now" target="_blank">Europe</a>! Over 12 Millions tourists especially Europeans are flocking into these islands each year for holidays. They are situated in South West of Spanish mainland, in the Atlantic Ocean, and are actually just off the North West of African mainland. Because of this, they are better known by the local and EU travelers. Majority of its visitors are from UK, German and even mainland Spanish.</p>
<p>After visiting those traditional travel destinations such as Barcelona or Madrid in Spain for so many times, tourists are now starting to explore further to the Canary islands. Originally the volcanic islands, The Canary Archipelago have many great natural attractions such as national parks, wildlife, flora, ocean views, with beautiful long sand beaches and temperate sub-tropical climate throughout the year. I was stunned by its beauty when I first read about this islands from magazine. People on <a href="http://www.onthebeach.co.uk/destinations/canaries/" target="_blank">Canary Islands Holidays</a> are looking for either a quiet getaway or an endless night life. Together with lively night entertainment, it reminds me of <a href="http://www.travelfeeder.com/travel_tips/top-5-different-travel-experiences-between-phuket-and-gold-coast" target="_blank">Patong Beach of Phuket</a>!</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-2863" title="Teide_from_north" src="http://www.travelfeeder.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/Teide_from_north-540x405.jpg" alt="" width="540" height="405" /></p>
<p>There are 7 major resort islands in the Canary Archipelago that worth a visit:</p>
<ol>
<li><em><strong>Tenerife</strong></em> &#8211; The largest island of the Canary, Tenerife is also the most popular tourists&#8217; destination in the archipelago. It has the highest mountain of Spain, El Teide, which was the 3rd largest volcano in the world and also an UNESCO World Heritage Site. In fact, Teide National Park is the second most visited national park in the world. Warm weather, beautiful sunlight and long sand beaches are the main attractions for a <a href="http://www.onthebeach.co.uk/destinations/canaries/tenerife/" target="_blank">Tenerife Holidays</a>.</li>
<li><em><strong>Fuerteventura</strong></em> &#8211; The second largest, Fuerteventura is famous for its year-round winds blowing onto the beaches which have become the surfers&#8217; paradise. Sailing, scuba diving and fishing are also popular here. Whales, dolphins, marlin and turtles are all commonly seen in the Atlantic ocean.</li>
<li><em><strong>Gran Canaria</strong></em> &#8211; The 3rd largest, Gran Canaria has everything from picturesque landscapes, long golden beaches, dunes of white sand, greeneries to endless natural parks. Half of the island is inscribed as Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO. Wildlife park such as birds park, crocodile park and botanic gardens are the main attractions here.</li>
<li><em><strong>Lanzarote</strong></em> &#8211; This island is full of flora and fauna. There are over 500 types of plants and lichen as well as 35 different types of animal lifes living in Lanzarote.</li>
<li><em><strong>La Palma</strong></em> &#8211; This island is famous for its volcanic mountain treking and vineyard. The local La Palma wine is distinctive, and is often accompanied with local cheese, roasted pork or goat meat. Due to its high mountain and clean air, it is also a leading location for telescopes like the Grantecan.</li>
<li><em><strong>La Gomera</strong></em> &#8211; The second smallest island in the Canary islands group. Identical to the rest, it is a volcanic island with plenty of mountain hiking tracks and natural beauty.</li>
<li><strong><em>El Hierro</em></strong> &#8211; The smallest and furthest island in the group.</li>
</ol>

<p>I&#8217;ve been to Barcelona more than 10 years ago. During my recent travel to <a href="http://www.travelfeeder.com/travel_tips/my-western-europe-travel-experience-day-2-a-rainy-chilly-day" target="_blank">Western Europe</a>, due to time shortage and distance, I has no choice but to drop Spain from my itinerary. I&#8217;m visiting Europe again next year. So I will definitely include the Canary Islands in my <a href="http://www.travelfeeder.com/travel_tips/my-western-europe-tour-itinerary-1st-draft" target="_blank">travel itinerary</a>! &#8211; <a href="http://www.travelfeeder.com" target="_blank"><em>Travel Feeder, the ultimate travel photo blog</em></a></p>

<p>We had a relatively good weather on our 3rd day in <a href="http://www.travelfeeder.com/travel_tips/in-london-city-centre-my-western-europe-travel-experience-day-2" target="_blank">London</a>. Though it was raining during certain hours of the day, we still had enough bright sun and blue sky to shoot photos to capture the best landmarks in London. As I mentioned before, <a href="http://www.travelfeeder.com/travel_tips/travel-photo-tips-photography-is-all-about-good-lighting" target="_blank">great photos need good lighting</a>, the photo below explained it perfectly.</p>
<p><a title="St_Pancras Station1_540px by Cecil Lee, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/27954114@N05/4893969958/in/photostream#/photos/27954114@N05/4893969958/in/photostream/lightbox/" target="_blank"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4079/4893395413_36537695c4_o.jpg" alt="St_Pancras Station1_540px" width="540" height="391" /></a></p>
<p>This is the front facade building of <strong>St. Pancras International</strong>, the international train station being the Terminal for EuroStar inter-continental train connecting London with Paris. This orange Gothic Revival architecture was designed by the famous local architect,<strong><em> George Gilbert Scott</em></strong>. It is located at <strong>Euston Road</strong>, in between British Library and Kingscross Train Station.</p>
<p>As you can see now, it was barricaded for a major renovation works to upgrade it to the 245 rooms Marriott Renaissance Hotel St. Pancras which is due to be completed in year 2011. However, St. Pancras station is still operational and Kingscross underground station has an underpass tunnel connecting to St. Pancras&#8217;s Eurostar terminal. If you&#8217;re taking Eurostar train to Paris, here is where you should check in for departure. We completed our <a href="http://www.travelfeeder.com/travel_tips/in-london-city-centre-my-western-europe-travel-experience-day-2" target="_blank">London travel</a> here before leaving for Paris. -<em> <a href="http://www.travelfeeder.com" target="_blank">Travel Feeder, your ultimate travel photo blog</a></em></p>

<p><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><em>Guest Post by Cherrye Moore</em></span></p>
<p>Seeing London in one day? Impossible! <em>Or is it?</em></p>
<p>Just last week I traveled from my expat home in southern Italy to London with my nine year old nephew and although we were technically there for three days, I only had one day to show him the sights.</p>
<p>So I did what any self-proclaimed travel-savvy expert would do … I looked to other experts. I researched one-day itineraries, perused London blogs and read up on which sights would most appeal to a nine year old heart. And we had a blast.</p>
<p>Here are five things you can do in London in one day&#8230;</p>
<ol>
<li><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">See Big Ben and Parliament</span></strong> &#8211; When many people travel to London, they picture themselves in a post-card perfect picture posing in front of Big Ben and Parliament. I know of everything on our to-do list, my nephew was most interested in seeing these famous landmarks and after a quick stop at Westminster Abbey and a stroll along the Thames, Seeing Big Ben and Parliament was checked off the list.<br />
<img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-2731" title="Big Ben" src="http://www.travelfeeder.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/Big-Ben.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="369" /></li>
<li><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>Ride the London Eye</strong></span> &#8211; From there, the capsules of the London Eye guided us down the Thames and beckoned us to take a ride. If you are sure you will ride the London Eye, then purchasing advanced tickets, along with a discount pass into one of London’s other attractions, is a good idea. I wasn’t sure the nine year old would go for it once he saw the sight, with its 443 feet of Ferris wheel glory. He went for it, though-and that was one more thing we’d proudly accomplished in our day in London.<br />
<img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-2732" title="London Eye" src="http://www.travelfeeder.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/London-Eye.jpg" alt="" width="375" height="500" /></li>
<li><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>Chill Out with Fish and Chips</strong></span> &#8211; When photo ops and Ferris wheel-riding get you down, it’s time to refuel on fish and chips. We had friends who were also in London for the day, so we met them at Dickens’ famous, although overly-touristy, <em>I’ve been told</em>, Red Lion Pub, located off of Pall Mall and St. James. We had a lengthy lunch, recounted the morning’s events and planned our afternoon tour of England’s capital.<br />
<img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-2733" title="Red Lion for Fish and Chips" src="http://www.travelfeeder.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/Red-Lion-for-Fish-and-Chips.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="311" /></li>
<li><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Mind the Gap</span></strong> &#8211; Little boys love trains and kids from Texas-who aren’t accustomed to riding subways, need to Mind the Gap a few times when they are in London. We rode the underground several times-and even took the train to our hotel in East Croydon. While many people might consider this a means of transportation-using the underground to get around was an added attraction to our one day in London.</li>
<li><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>Cruise the Thames</strong></span> &#8211; After lunch, we took the underground to the Tower of London, walked across the Tower Bridge, and then took a leisurely Thames River cruise back to Big Ben and Parliament. The trip cost just £8.00 for both of us, lasted about 25 minutes and featured a charming tour guide who offered detailed history and cute commentary on the passing sites.<br />
<img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-2730" title="About to Take River Cruise" src="http://www.travelfeeder.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/About-to-Take-River-Cruise.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="425" /></li>
</ol>
<p>What would you do if you had just one day in London?</p>
