For those fans of the Hong Kong celebrity food critic, Mr. Choi Lan, or Chua Lam (蔡澜) this must be a big surprise: “Chua Lam is here in Kuala Lumpur!” And I managed to catch him live in action at the Kuala Lumpur‘s latest food centre, the Lot 10 Hutong (十号胡同). As one of the top 3 best travel secrets of KL, Lot 10 Hutong is one food court with all the KL local street foods. Mr. Chua Lam was screening for his food critic TV programme when I was reviewing the Bak Kut Teh at Hutong.

Lot10Hutong4

This was the first take. Mr. Chua Lam was walking into Lot 10 with 2 beautiful young ladies (TVB actresses), quietly.

The producer commented they were  too quiet and this was another take with some conversation between them.

Lot 10 Hutong is at the lower ground floor. They took 3 times to shoot walking down the escalators.

Lot10Hutong3

As Chua Lam’s usual critic style, he was being shot walking through the food stalls one by one, meanwhile, explaining to his companions about those delicious Malaysian local street food available there.

Lot10Hutong2

Chua Lam is my favourite chinese food critic around. His travelling knowledge enriches his verdict to foods as well as life. Beautiful ladies are attracted to his style. Other than the TVB working team, 1 phone camera (spot in the photo!) and 1 Panasonic Lumix FZ28 (me!) are shooting them also. :)

Lot10Hutong1

His sense of humor always please his companions. He was explaining how the Xi Dao fish balls are produced…

Lot10Hutong20

Alright. He’s gone. Let’s go back to Lot 10 Hutong food court. The idea of Hutong is to group those local KL famous street food stalls or shops together under one roof. Visitors to Malaysia and KL could taste them all at one place! I’m taking you round the place to see what local street foods are on offer here… Firstly, the roast duck rice.

Lot10Hutong19

Secondly is Ho Weng Kee pork rib and Char Siew noodles. (Please bear in mind one thing here: Many of the foods here are non-halal)

Lot10Hutong18

The most famous Bak Kut Teh (肉骨茶 – herbal pork soup) from Klang, Mao Shan Gao is here also! I tried this on that day and it was fantastic and authentic!

Lot10Hutong17

Light chinese snacks and cakes…

Lot10Hutong16

This corner featured the local Indian and Malay foods. You could find Roti Canai (Paratha) or rojak (indian salad) over here.

Lot10Hutong15

This is something out of KL. Ipoh chicken rice is originally from Ipoh, Perak. Now travellers could try the authentic delicacy here in KL rather than travelling 200KM to Ipoh.

Lot10Hutong14

You Tiao stall. Though originally from China, You Tiao or You Char Kway (chinese cruller fried bread stick or chinese donut) is still the Malaysian chinese favourite snack or breakfast. Other than You Tiao, Ma Jiao (马脚), Jia Zong (挟粽)and Jian Dui (煎堆)are also available.

Lot10Hutong13

Lum Mee (淋缅).

Lot10Hutong10

Bevarage counter.

Lot10Hutong11

Hong Tai, is it from singapore?

Lot10Hutong12

Mr. Siew Bao. The chinese snack shop selling egg tarts, siew bao (烧包), yam cakes, coconut tarts and etc.

Lot10Hutong9

Campell road mini Popiah or chinese pancake roll (薄饼), my favourites street foods.

Lot10Hutong8

Chinese Tea and Dim Sum corner.

Lot10Hutong7

Famous charbroiled fried Hokkien noodle from Petaling Street or KL China Town, the black noodle that you can’t miss!

Lot10Hutong6

Exceptionally isolated is this counter selling non-Malaysian but German foods!

Another famous beef noodle stall originally from jalan silang, the song Kee Beef noodle.

Mr. Chua Lam only recommends the best food in any town or city. He is recommending Lot 10 hutong in his food critic TV series. So, what are you waiting for? come to Malaysia, come to Kuala Lumpur and try most of the KL local street foods here in Lot 10 Hutong, jalan Bukit Bintang. Don’t mis-understood. I’m not getting paid with this post. I’m just recommending something good to foreign visitors. Congratulation, and celebration…. First started to blog for travel on 17th June 2008, I’m glad, though not excellent, that Travel Feeder could reeach its 100th post benchmark in 10 months or slightly less than a year! Hurray!

I love travel, especially vacation travel. I will travel whenever time and money allow me to do so. However, vacation travel in the current economy situation seems luxurious. Sadly to thank the crisis, at least now we can enjoy cheaper vacation with cheaper air fares and cheaper, lower demand accomodations. More sadly to thank us as human to ruin our naked earth by setting terrorism, protests, bombing, government overthrowing and the current Swine Flu infection, cost of travel particularly to those socially unstable countries is now even cheaper (if only you dare to travel there :( )

So, being a travel blog, I would say Travel Feeder is the most exciting blog among others that I’ve been blogging so far. As I iterated in my introduction at the beginning post, Travel Feeder has been sticking to my motto: WORLD IS BIG, MONEY IS SMALL, LET’S TRAVEL BE WORTH EVERY PENNY THAT WE GOT!  I will continue to blog and share my travel experiences, travel tips, travel guides and the latest travel news with travelers worldwide.

In case you are new here, I’ve blogged about some (though I would hope it could be more) countries and cities and also some local travel destination in Malaysia. Among others, London, Paris, Venice, Rome, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Bali, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Suzhou, Nanjing, Wuxi, Genting Highland, Penang and Langkawi are some travel destinations that I’ve been to. Of course, my travel ambition doesn’t stop here. My future plan is to travel Phuket in this October and hopefully to Bijing, HongKong, Singapore and revisit Bali in near future.

Another motivation to blog in Travel Feeder is my hobby in photography. If you could notice or have been following us, I got my new travel camera in October and cameras in December last year. So, more frequent travelling means more chances for me to take photos. Until today, I love both my Panasonic Lumix FZ28 and Nikon D60. Bear in mind, I still sticked to my motto, they are bother budget models :) . They have been giving me better photos to share in Travel Feeder as well as in my photo albums. Hooray!

So, stick with Travel Feeder. I will share more photos, tips and guides with you and I sincerely hope that I could travel more by earning more money and getting more competitive prices in fares and accomodations, but not taking advantages of those world’s social and economic crisis! Please! WE LOVE PEACE!!!

Lastly, please support me by giving your precious comments here for any good’s or bad’s so I could improve…. Or it would still be good to subscribe to my RSS feeds for FREE updates of my stories! Or if you are looking for your own travel cameras, buy it online through links from this blog so I could earn some commission from Amazon! :) Cheers! – Travel Feeder.

Hooray! At last, Air Asia of Malaysia has won the world’s Best Low Cost Airline in Skytrax World Airline Award 2009. The airline was ranked 6th in the same category of last year award. So to say we are lucky to be able to travel to many ‘hot’ travel destinations, by air, with extreme low fares but still reasonably good service from Air Asia.

[A strong performer in earlier Surveys, AirAsia celebrates in 2009 by taking the accolade as the World's Best Low-Cost Airline. AirAsia said the highly regarded award, dubbed as the "travellers' choice", has cemented its competency in providing excellent and value-for-money services through its incessant innovations and trend-setting measures.

"The award marks a major milestone for AirAsia, as the award is acknowledged the world over and the only award based on independent judgements of our very own guests," said Tony Fernandes, AirAsia's CEO.

"Being a low-cost airline should never have to mean delivering a low-quality service, and Air Asia is proof of the fact that low-cost airlines can provide a good standard of customer care and passenger service quality, that matches the ethos behind operating low-fare services - with standards of customer loyalty showing a winning formula" said Edward Plaisted (CEO of Skytrax).  -SKYTRAX AWARD 2009.]

Air Asia.com

Since the low cost airline is remained as one of the most competitively contested section of the award, we would expect Air Asia to offer better service and price in future. So who else would say air travel is unreachable?

However, think it over. Air fares would also drop when the economy is bad, or the travel destination has dropped in demand after security issues. But is that what you would like to see? I doubt so… – Travel Feeder.

On day 5 of our packaged travel to China, we got a morning call at 7:30am. My room was on the other block from where we were going to have our breakfast. We packed our luggage as we would leave SuZhou later today for another historic city of Nanjing. When I stepped out of our [...]

Sorry, this should be the final post for Chinese New Year, instead of Chap Goh Meh – The Last CNY Celebration Photos. I thought of dropping this post before as I felt paying RM10 (USD2.70) per pax as entrance fees to visit Berjaya Hill Resort is rediculous and not worthwhile. However, downloading and reviewing photos [...]
