The era of DSLR has come in digital camera world finally. New models are coming out every half year in the current trend and price is getting more and more competitive while image sensor resolution is getting higher and higher. Moreover, size of a DSLR is getting smaller and smaller while the weight is getting lighter and lighter. In view of the need for quality of your precious travel photos, why would you still not consider carrying a DSLR digital camera with you on your travel?

In the current market, we can see each and every half year, new DSLRs are being launched by the big names like Nikon, Canon and Olympus, which is as fast as compact cameras’. In 1st quarter of this year, eventhough the world’s economic is badly hit by the financial crisis, Nikon still launched the D5000, the replacement of their popular budget camera, D40. Meanwhile Canon has also launched EOS 500D to replace their entry level 450D. Not to mention E420 budget DSLR from Olympus that was  launched recently.

In case you still ask why should you bother to carry such a big chunk (well, DSLR is still considerably bulkier than compact’s) along your travel, here are my top 5 humble opinions:-

  1. DSLR has by far the unrivalled image quality, especially in low light. This is controlled by the size of image sensor where DSLR has at least double the size of image sensor if compared to compact cameras. In this case, size does matter!;
  2. With fast technology advancement, DSLR is at least even, on par or better composing flexibility. The most significant advantage of compact camera, ‘live view’ feature is now a standard feature of DSLR as well. Another unique feature of video shooting in compact’s has also inherited to the current DSLR models;
  3. DSLR is getting lighter, smaller and cheaper that suitable for vacation travel. Comparing to 417g of my Panasonic Lumix FZ28 compact, Olympus E420 is weighing at 380g (body only) only! Canon 500D is also very light at 480g only;
  4. Faster operation to capture acute travel moment. The start-up time, shutter lag time, focusing time and file saving time are all faster in DSLR if compared to compact’s. This is the most important factor in photography where timing is always critical to capture “The special moment”, and
  5. You will look more confident and ‘man’ when holding a DSLR in your hands. Carrying a DSLR in group travels will make you more popular since they want you to take photos for them. :)

Congratulation, and celebration…. First started to blog for travel on 17th June 2008, I’m glad, though not excellent, that Travel Feeder could reeach its 100th post benchmark in 10 months or slightly less than a year! Hurray!

I love travel, especially vacation travel. I will travel whenever time and money allow me to do so. However, vacation travel in the current economy situation seems luxurious. Sadly to thank the crisis, at least now we can enjoy cheaper vacation with cheaper air fares and cheaper, lower demand accomodations. More sadly to thank us as human to ruin our naked earth by setting terrorism, protests, bombing, government overthrowing and the current Swine Flu infection, cost of travel particularly to those socially unstable countries is now even cheaper (if only you dare to travel there :( )

So, being a travel blog, I would say Travel Feeder is the most exciting blog among other blogs that I’ve been blogging so far. As I iterated in my introduction at the beginning post, Travel Feeder has been sticking to my motto: WORLD IS BIG, MONEY IS SMALL, LET’S TRAVEL BE WORTH EVERY PENNY THAT WE GOT!  I will continue to blog and share my travel experiences, travel tips, travel guides and the latest travel news with travelers worldwide.

In case you are new here, I’ve blogged about some (though I would hope it could be more) countries and cities and also some local travel destination in Malaysia. Among others, London, Paris, Venice, Rome, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Bali, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Suzhou, Nanjing, Wuxi, Genting Highland, Penang and Langkawi are some travel destinations that I’ve been to. Of course, my travel ambition doesn’t stop here. My future plan is to travel Phuket in this October and hopefully to Bijing, HongKong, Singapore and revisit Bali in near future.

Another motivation to blog in Travel Feeder is my hobby in photography. If you could notice or have been following us, I got my new travel camera in October and cameras in December last year. So, more frequent travelling means more chances for me to take photos. Until today, I love both my Panasonic Lumix FZ28 and Nikon D60. Bear in mind, I still sticked to my motto, they are bother budget models :) . They have been giving me better photos to share in Travel Feeder as well as in my photo albums. Hurray!

So, stick with Travel Feeder. I will share more photos, tips and guides with you and I sincerely hope that I could travel more by earning more money and getting more competitive prices in fares and accomodations, but not taking advantages of those world’s social and economic crisis! Please! WE LOVE PEACE!!!

Lastly, please support me by giving your precious comments here for any good’s or bad’s so I could improve…. Or it would still be good to subscribe to my RSS feeds for FREE updates of my stories! Or if you are looking for your own travel cameras, buy it online through links from this blog so I could earn some commission from Amazon! :) If money is not your main concern while it is mine unfortunately, and if you like my stories, support me for my future trip and Travel Feeder’s next 100 posts by little token of donation
.Cheers! – Travel Feeder.

The recent global financial meltdown started in US when its real estate market bubble burst and banking instituition went insolvent. Soon after the US, other world’s major financial instituitions reacted fast to slump to a new low and the crude oil price index has dropped to a recording low price since 5 years ago! This chain link effect is further evident in many part of the world’s equity market and hence the global economy are facing a slump.

Many would start to worry about the recession cycle of every 10 years after 1997 and started to cut their daily spending in all respects with beliefs in the terminology of ‘Money Is King‘. Theoretically, the first budget we are going to cut is our travel budget , which is sad for me personally (my travel blog would be less active… :( ). Nevertheless, my response to it is a big ‘NO‘! We should not cancel our vacation plan. Contrariwise, we should travel more at this moment of global economy slumping :) . Why? Here are the top 5 reasons (or excuses… *giggle*):

  1. So fed up? Go and Relax! – We are having intense pressure in our life and it’s even more during this period. Our already subtle income and assets appreciation has suddenly became negligible and we are so fed up after all the hard earned money depreciated over night! What should we do? Go travel and relax! ;
  2. Save monies on Air tickets and Hotel – Especially during the economy crisis, our travel would cost us a lot lesser as all vendors are offering cheap bargain in order to survive. Air tickets, hostel rate, eating-out are all going to be cheaper! ‘Demand and supply‘ rules;
  3. Save Energy of offices for this non-productive period – During the economy slump, less demand means less productive in our office and business. What we could do is to shut down office or factory to save energy and Go Travel! (This is a bit ‘hard sell’ mate…);
  4. Search for new opportunity – Go travel! Open our eyes and search for new opportunity of new business in abroad. We may find some great ideas in other part of the world that could to be adopted in our country instead, and
  5. Stimulate the global economy – Com’on! The global economy is already slumping! Spend more to stimulate the global economy so it could recover faster!! Bravo!

‘What a nonsense excuses!’ At least I feel better with my vacation plan to Shanghai next month :) . Another 32 days to my 8D7N Shanghai autumn travel… countdown continues…. – Travel Feeder.

Last Sunday, on the 15th Day of August in Lunar calender, was our Chinese descendants’ Mid-Autumn Festival or Mooncake Festival. Previous years, our family would gather togehter for dinner at our parents’ house. After the dinner, my brothers and sisters would be chatting all in’s and out’s while our children playing their lanterns and candles. However, it was not [...]

I’m not self-promoting, mate! I’m just being an observer viewing from a helicopter at those popular travel blogs in the blogophere and I’m also trying hard to learn from them too!
