I've had similar options when I bought my FZ28, and so far I'm very satisfied with my choice. I feel that I made the right choice.

I just got myself the Panasonic Lumix DMC-G1 and love it, so far. Especially the electronic viewfinder, enabling me to see the picture immediately after taking it, without having to take the camera away from my eye to look at an LCD screen. Great feature, funny to see the pro's looking at the backside LCD display after each pic when i was shooting away.

After using a Fujifilm S5800 for two weeks and enjoying it... I took it back and got the DMC-FZ28!

Why? The Lens abberations are not present with the FZ28 and the Optical Stabilization is present and not a gimmick.

The Fujifilm S5800 was simpler to use and has a superior viewfinder and a superior LCD... So I miss those two features. The FZ28's viewfinder is a joke (unfortunately) and the FZ28's LCD is has glare and is quite inferior to the Fujifilm's LCD in more ways than one.

So it is a tradeoff. Why can't One company put the Best of both worlds into ONE camera? This is beyond understanding.

Oh, the Fujifilm's EUROPEAN Video recording mode has No time restrictions -- as the Panasonic FZ28 EUROPEAN videos ARE limited to 15 minutes per clip. (So lame) -- Another minus for Euro Panasonics.

What Gives, Panasonic? I buy Your camera and you disappointed me.
Now I will live with this FZ28.. sometimes looking back and wondering "did I make a mistake?".
