Giant rubber duck tour in Taoyuan haulted after Taiwan earthquake

The giant rubber duck tour in Taoyuan, was suddenly brought to a halt with an explosion on last Saturday, 2nd November. The 59 feet high yellow rubber duck exploded when crews trying to re-inflate it after a deflation caused by the recent 6.5-magnitude earthquake in South Eastern coast of Taiwan that triggered power outages in various areas including Taoyuan.

Initiated and designed by the famous Dutch artist Florentijn Hofman, the gigantic yellow Rubber Duck deliberately brings a positive statement that immediately connects people to their childhood. The yellow rubber duck knows no frontiers, doesn’t discriminate people and doesn’t have a political connotation. Florentijn believes the friendly, floating Rubber Duck has healing properties that can relieve mondial tensions as well as define them.

The yellow rubber duck was designed basing on the standard model that children from all four corners of the world are familiar with. The impressive rubber duck travels the world and pops up in many different cities, from Auckland and São Paulo to Osaka and now Taiwan.

The giant rubber duck tour is currently having stop at the Taoyuan Land Art Festival until 10th November. It will move up to Keelung in late December.

Unfortunately, I will miss the giant rubber duck tour in Taiwan since my travel to Taiwan falls in between that period of time.

Having said that, we are talking about safety first here. Most importantly, no further earthquake or other natural disasters will hit Taiwan again and my travel to Taiwan will proceed as planned.

Weather has been unpredictable and disruptive around the world these years. When Winter comes, we sees snow storms, floods and earthquakes happening everywhere. Is it still safe to travel? Is my advocate to go traveling still stands? My deeply hope so.

Finger crossed. We all don’t know about future. Nobody knows what will happen to our world. Unfortunately, pollution is jeopardizing the health of our earth and sadly but truly, it caused our weather changed. Tourists spots and heritage sites might disappear one day. So what are you waiting for? Let’s go travel to see them in person now before too late! – Travel Feeder
