Alluring Alanya

Turkey is my second home. There are numerous stunning destinations, perfect for a summer holiday, dotted all around the south coast, however one of my favourite is the pretty resort of Alanya.

Large, varied and home to a beautiful, wide and safe beach, this is the epitome of summer relaxation, with life centred around the waterfront, perfecting for basking in the Turkish sun.

Alanya is becoming increasingly popular, and it’s not hard to see why. Flights to Antalya are frequent throughout the year, with summer being obviously busier. There are many great deals to be had, with Turkey being a very affordable choice for a family holiday. Make your break even cheaper by pre-booking airport extras, such as airport parking. I find this service really useful, and one that always saves me money. I like the convenience of knowing my car is there for me when I land, and that I don’t have to book expensive airport taxis to get me to the terminal. If you’re flying from north of the border, you won’t miss out, with Edinburgh Airport Parking offering fantastic prices.

To me, Alanya is a place you picture when you think of a chilled-out summer holiday. Spend your days baking on the beach, with water-sports for a cool down, jump on a boat-trip and sail around the beautiful coastline, maybe even jump on the hydrofoil over to Northern Cyprus for the day, go shopping on the markets and haggle for souvenirs, spend the day at the water-park, frolicking on the slides and splashing in the sun, sit on a beachfront bar with a cool beer, eat an ice cream, jump on a jeep safari and explore the green countryside around the town …. the list goes on.

For a spot of culture, head to the castle, dating back more than 2000 years and check out the panoramic views from the top. If you want to learn more about the history of the area, Alanya museum is for you. The Red Tower is also a great place to visit and learn about the maritime history of the region, with more great views to boot.

When the moon makes an appearance, Alanya comes alive. Whatever form of entertainment takes your fancy, you’re sure to find it – with nightclubs, bars and restaurants all vying for your attention. I would highly recommend you try some traditional Turkish food, not only is it delicious but it’s surprisingly cheap too. Chicken kebabs, wrap-style, are my favourite, as well as the delicious dessert baklava – give it a try for yourself.

Any Turkish holiday resort will be the perfect backdrop for your summer break, however Alanya has some extra magic in the air, which tends to make people go back time and time again. Take advantage of the cheap deals available at the moment, made even cheaper with pre-booked airport extras, such as London City Airport Parking and you’ll be haggling your way on the market before you know it. 🙂 – Travel Feeder, your ultimate travel photo blog
