My dream golf travel destinations in US

Being a social golfer and an avid traveler, planning a travel to US and at the same time, paying pilgrimage to some of the best golf courses in the country is always one of my top travel wishes. The home to PGA tour, United States of America is overloaded with many top ranked golf courses designed by top legends in golfing history such as Jack Nicklaus and Arnold Palmer. Having said that, US is simply too large a country to visit in a short golfing break, and careful shortlisting of few of my favourite golf courses has become a prerequisite.

My top selection is Arizona. Arizona is one of the US state in West Southern part that features many unique desert golf courses in its 3 popular golf destinations of Phoenix, Scottsdale and Tucson. With the gorgeous red rock mountains, famous National Parks, spectacular desert scenery and the abundance of world-class golf courses, Arizona is definitely a desert paradise for any avid golfer, including me.

The Phoenix-Scottsdale golfing resort corridor is surely the hot cake, but only within 2 hours away, Tucson is also great for providing even more natural desert golf courses while being home to some of the best and world famous medical and health spas. Some of the best courses in Tucson are Tom Fazio’s design work at Ventana Canyon, Arnold Palmer’s at Starr Pass or Jack Nicklaus’ at La Paloma. In between Tee-off times, I can plan for hikes in natural scenery or just kicking back under the stars.

Beside playing golf on the US mainland, the next golfing destination that I’m dying to Tee-off at is Hawaii. Hawaii is the newest of US’s 50 states which located some 3200km West Southern off the US mainland. Hawaii’s famously lush green mountains and coastal cliffs make it one of the most visually dramatic and unique golf destinations in the world. With a temperate island climate, golfers can enjoy their round of golf throughout the year in Hawaii.

Hawaii is made up of 8 main islands. Each island has its own unique characteristic and breathtaking scenery, which make selecting the different golf courses in Hawaii difficult. For travelers throughout the world, Maui represents the perfect vacation. And for golfers, its doubly so, as this Hawaiin Island paradise comes with countless golfing options to make it a golf packagers dream. Offering golf courses such as the Wailea Golf Club, Makena and Ka’anapali Maui gives golfers a chance to shine while enjoying the scenic view of the island. Apart from the lush beauty one normally associates with Maui, the it also offers the state’s only 54-hole courses, in Wailea and Kapalua golf resort.

With Arizona and Hawaii being shortlisted, I will need to start practicing my golf swing in driving range and hope to better my handicap card before stepping on the greens of those world class golf courses. 🙂 – Travel Feeder, your ultimate photo travel guide to US
