Last Sunday, Jean and I had nothing to do after our breakfast at home. So we decided to bring our children for a long distance lunch at Ulu Yam, about an hour drive from our home Royal Domain. Ulu Yam is famous for its special Lor Mee, a handmade coarse noodle cooked in a special thick vinegar soup (our favourite!)
.
Ulu Yam is around 28KM from Batu Caves, another travel destination in KL. If you drive from KL, head to Gombak for Batu Caves and then look for signboard to Ulu Yam (you have to really look for one since our Tourism Department is too stingy to put up sufficient direction signboard for travel destinations in Malaysia
).

Once you hit the hilly terrain raod towards Ulu Yam new town then old town, you would find the amazing view of Ulu Yam lake, one of the main water reservoirs for the Klang Valley.

There are plenty of resting spots and carparks by the lake where tourists could park their cars and come down for breezy weather and serenity, under those coconut trees. It’s another kind of feeling from what you could get in KL city. Further down the road, just before we reach Ulu Yam for our Lor Mee, there are also 2 waterfalls along the road. – Travel Feeder.
