AirAsia is on sale but MAS is a steal

Great news to fellow travelers once again! AirAsia is currently running another great sale campaign for flights traveling in between now and September 2013! Book before 17th March to get a lower price. However, lowest fares are offered to limited seats flying during off peak when demand is low. For flights departing during peak season such as upcoming school holidays in late March and May, there is no price cut on the fares. In this case, MAS is stealing the show!

MAS is also running its amazing travel fair currently, in conjunction with the upcoming MATTA Fair. What is really interesting is MAS is offering a much better deals than AirAsia! Especially during peak season, MAS is offering an equally low return fare as is AirAsia! What’s more? MAS is a full fledged 5 star airline with an award winning cabin service!

Don’t forget that you need to pay extra for check-in baggage allowance, on board meals, seat selection, in flight entertainment and any other services when you book AirAsia flights. If these are something you never care less, then it’s fine to go ahead with AirAsia.

Otherwise, if you concern about those extra services, including ideal departure time, better duty free shopping at KLIA, free flow of liquors on board etc, then you should consider MAS, at least when booking during this promotion period when both of them are offering such a low fares that are so close to make a clear call!

Take the flight to Seoul, South Korea, that I’ve been surveying lately, as an example. The lowest return air fares during school holidays in May and August is RM902 for Airasia and RM1,299 for MAS, which is only RM300 difference. After topping up the basic Airasia fares with checked-in baggage, on board meals and seat selection, MAS air tickets to Seoul is actually not much more.

As competition between airlines are getting stiffer, differences in air tickets offered by full fledged and low cost airlines are becoming lesser. AirAsia and MAS is the best example. They used to cater 2 distinct groups of travelers, budget and luxurious, back in 10 years ago when AirAsia first incorporated. Slowly and gradually, when AirAsia lowest fares are less cheap and MAS lowest fares are getting cheaper, after comparing the services and comfort level offered by full fledged carriers and, the lack of services and costly add-on provided by low cost carriers, we need to survey carefully before putting our money in.

Just do the maths. The choice is yours. Whichever is it, it is still the best chance to grab your tickets for holidays this year. Act fast before it disappears! Check them out yourself on Airasia and Malaysia Airline websites for details. 🙂 – Travel Feeder
