My Airasia X Premium Flatbed seat experience

Well. Airasia X introduced its Premium Flatbed quite some times ago. It is considered a business class for the budget airline where premium price is paid for the priviledges and other extra features. As you know me well, I’m an advocate of budget traveling so  it is not something I would consider at all until recently. Yes. With the help of Optiontown‘s Upgrade Travel Option (UTO), I’ve recently managed to experience the Airasia X Premium Flatbed on my way to Korea. And my comment? Marvellous! Let’s talk it over.

As marketed by AirasiaX, the Premium flatbeds feature universal power sockets, adjustable headrests and built-in personal utilities such as tray table, drink holder, reading light and privacy screen. Premium seat guests also enjoy premium complimentary products and services including Pick A Seat, Priority Check-in, Priority Boarding, Priority Baggage, 25kg Baggage Allowance, Complimentary Meal and Pillow & Blanket. AirAsia X was the first long-haul, low fare carrier to introduce Flatbed seats, which have standard business class specifications of 20” width, 60” pitch and stretch out to 77” in full recline position.

What Airasia X promised was true, I manged to board earlier, claimed my baggage first, had a complimentary meal and drink on board (though without prior booking, meal choices  could be limited) and free 25kg checked in luggage allowance. The biggest advantages of Premium Flatbed is its flatbed itself which I could truly lied down to sleep like on my own bed! For long haul flights, this could be one single feature that make up your decision to upgrade.

After all, with the Optiontown Upgrade offer, I paid only RM150 extra to enjoy all these benefits of Premium Flatbed and definitely worth the last minute confirmation. Just a piece of advise: You need to pay RM150 to bid for the limited premium seats and the result could only be announced as late as within 24 hours from your flight. If you haven’t pre-booked your meals on board, you could possibly miss the chance as meal pre-booking closes 24 hours from the departure.
