This is something special about Patong Beach. I saw it only in Patong… Not other parts of Phuket Island… Special scene in Patong. What’s so special? ‘THE OVERHEAD ELECTRIC WIRES or POWER CABLES!’ And the title of this post is what I think the most appropriate phrase I could think of: Patong has gone Haywire!! :) I believe photos are the best way to describe this scene. So here are some snapshots I took in Patong. Enjoy!

Eventhough I’m a contractor, these bunch of wires will really make me mad if I would to trace which wire had gone short circuit! I just can’t imagine if (‘touch wood please..’) sabotage happens…

Whether it is the beauty or the beast of Patong Beach, clutter or ornament, travellers could judge for themselves here. For me, they are both. They could enhance my composition of an urban scene like this one above, and they could also distract my view to certain subjects or scenes like the one below…

An otherwise clean building fascade view of this massage parlour had been distracted by these wires.

When we walked up from basement, what we could see was not sky but bunch of wires! :)

These 2 photos are the best shot to me. They are not lighting effect or illusion. They are overhead wires lit by the ambient light.

That’s all I have for now. Better or worse, they are still part and parcel of Patong Beach. I would consider them as special scenes of Patong Beach. What do you think? I think the wires make the area looks very messy and yet very special. Only in Patong! Haha

    Like the 2nd last pict.

This is definitely a case of going cable crazy. It reminds me of some photographs I have seen of India. I can’t imagine what happens when a cable breaks or they find a fault.
