Tokyo Skytree is opening for public on 22nd May 2012

The highest structure in Japan measuring 634m high, Tokyo Skytree (東京スカイツリー) is set to open for public on this coming 22nd May 2012, which are 2 more days away from the time I’m writing this post!

The Tokyo Skytree is a new television broadcasting tower and latest landmark of Tokyo. It is the centerpiece of the Tokyo Skytree Town in the Sumida City Ward, not far away from Asakusa. It is also the second tallest structure in the world at the time of its completion.

The entrance to the Tokyo Skytree is on the 4th floor of Tokyo Skytree Town, which spans the area between Tokyo Skytree Station (formerly known as Narihirabashi Station) on the Tobu Isesaki Line, and Oshiage Station on the Asakusa Subway Line, Hanzomon Subway Line and Keisei Oshiage Line. Alternatively, it is a 20 minute walk across the Sumida River from Asakusa.

I had the chance to view it from Asakusa station when we were visiting the Sensoji Buddhist temple nearby. Not having enough time to really drop by and snap a photo of it in a closer distance, I took this photo from across the Sumida River just to share with you guys.

If you are planning a visit to Tokyo these coming months, make sure to go up to its observation deck for a 360° panorama view over the Tokyo city. Ticket can be purchased for 2,000 Yen (¥) to the lower deck and an additional 1,000 Yen to the upper deck, which is quite expensive.

A complete guide and sneak peek to the top of the Tokyo Skytree can be read on Japan Travel Guides website, which is an useful guide for me to explore Japan. Enjoy! 🙂 – Travel Feeder, your ultimate travel photo guide to Japan.
