Shopping Streets and Squares

When you hear about the meatpacking district, you might first think of shopping for some dinner, but that’s not the only thing cooking in this area. West 14th Street, which runs through the meatpacking district in Lower Manhattan, boasts a plethora of charming boutiques to shop at. You’re pretty much guaranteed to find unique and different stuff here as the shops are nearly all independently ran.

For some of the regular, but mega popular stores, Herald Square is the spot. This area is most notably known for its Macy’s flagship store that could take you all day to wander around. There’s also the sexy Victoria’s Secret and casually cute Gap, amongst others.

Times Square is mostly known for its huge sparkling ball that plunges down every year as thousands crowd around, and million watch around the world very new year, but you bet there’s more to do! Shopping here will bring you to more famous establishments like the Disney Store, Forever 21, and Sephora. This is a big square to tackle, feel free to come back tomorrow.

Shopping Malls

Despite this being a list for areas to go shopping in New York, Grand Central Terminal is actually visited more for its incredible food court. All types of tasty delights are here for you to nosh on as you shop till you drop. There’s a big collections of shops here to choose from as well as at the Staten Island Mall.

The Staten Island Mall is a place to go when you want to shop without 5lbs of guilt weighing you down. Feel confident in finding a bargain, this is where you can find some great deals on the brands you want. Another good mall for some better prices is the Queens Center Mall.

Get yourself just outside and over to Jersey. The Newport Center is another spot to find some better prices, mostly because of the lower taxes in New Jersey. All the regulars make an appearance like Kohl’s and Forever 21. There’s a movie theater here too if those feet need a rest.

Markets

Hell’s Kitchen Flea Market sound intimidating, but there’s no Gordon Ramsay here to give you a good yelling, so come on down. Vintage apparel, antiques, unique and original art, and more can be found here. This market is available on Saturday and Sunday’s only. Another market with a similar array of items, but less crowds, is the Brooklyn Flea Market in Fort Greene. – Travel Feeder
