Oxford Street Announces Exciting New Christmas Launch Evening In Partnership With Capital XTRA

On Tuesday 6 November, Oxford Street will shake up its traditional Christmas Lights switch on ceremony with an exciting new series of in-store gigs featuring some of the UK’s hottest emerging artists. In partnership with Capital XTRA – the UK’s leading national urban radio station – the night will see a mix of R&B and grime music.

Londoners and visitors can expect an evening of performances from talented young musician Novelist, R&B powerhouse Kara Marni, and singer-songwriters Ray BLK and Isaac Waddington. Capital XTRA presenters Yinka Bokinni and Robert Bruce will get the celebrations underway with DJ sets ahead of each performance.

An evening of performances from talented young musician

  • Kara Marni: The 21-year-old is currently making waves with her eclectic mix of R&B and classic soul. Kara will be performing at Tezenis from 6.00 – 7.00pm
  • Ray BLK: releases her anticipated new 8 song project “Empress” on October 26th. Truly authentic, relatable and always honest, “The Empress Project” confirms that Ray BLK is here for the long run. Ray currently has a special guest slot on Rudimental’s UK tour and a headlining show at the forum in London on March 28. Ray will be performing at Nike from 6.30 – 7.30pm
  • Isaac Waddington: Having pursued a music career from a young age, Isaac’s jazz inflected sounds have caught the attention of key tastemakers. He’ll be dropping his next single on 9 November. Isaac will be performing at Uniqlo from 7.00 – 8.00pm
  • Novelist: 2018 Mercury Prize nominee from South London, Novelist, released his debut album, “Novelist Guy” earlier this year. His perceptive approach to artistry began at a young age and he has since received remarkable acclaim for his creative output. Novelist will be performing at JD Sports from 7.30-8.30pm

Cementing Oxford Street’s status as the go to destination for ‘firsts’ across fashion, technology, entertainment and innovation, the refreshed format will also see the launch of a world-first festive shopping evening with offers and experiences catered to every style, personality and taste, showcasing the variety and breadth of Christmas shopping across the street.

Oxford Street’s biggest shopping night yet

With over 90 stores joining the celebrations, this is set to be Oxford Street’s biggest shopping night yet with unrivalled offers of up to 20% off from high street favourites Warehouse, G Star RAW, Aldo, Bershka and Stradivarius, gift with purchases, in-store giveaways and complimentary gift wrapping, plus much more – a night not to be missed.

Activity highlights:

  • 9 piece New York Brass Band at John Lewis’ Skyline Skating with Sipsmith on the Roof from 7-8pm
  • 1,000 giveaway scratch cards available from Debenhams with chances to win beauty gifts, KAT VON D Bag, Dolce & Gabbana makeup bag, Hermes gift set and more
  • Topshop Topman bring an interactive Christmas tree in-store. Customers receive light bulbs to plug in to the tree for the chance to win amazing prizes including gift cards up to £100
