“Bali,” the mere mention of the name conjures up images of paradise and exotic experiences.  Bali is indeed, paradise found.  It is one among the 17,000 islands of Indonesia, located east of Java and west of Lombok.  The island has a varied landscape consisting of rolling hills and scenic rice terraces, beaches and stunning volcanoes; a verdant and magnificent paradise inhabited by a genuinely warm people.  Bali is the perfect vacation getaway and provides a beautiful venue for vacation rentals such as a Bali luxury villa.

Tanah Lot is one of the most important sea temples in Bali, and Pura Tanah Lot (Temple of Land in the Middle of the Sea) is a spectacular sight. Watching Bali’s renowned cultural dances is a must do, as is visiting the paddy terraces in Tegallalang that offer visitors a wonderful panoramic view. Many visitors to Bali hike to its active volcano, called Gunung Batur, where they wait for the sun to rise over Lombok.

Despite the intensive agriculture that has developed in Bali, the island remains rich in indigenous plants and wildlife.  There are some 282 bird species in Bali, and around fourteen percent of the island is designated as a National Park. The West Bali National Park showcases the island’s interesting mammals, such as the muntjak, banteng, chevrotain, pangolin, cuscus, slow loris, and so many more primates, wild cats and birds. The water around Bali is a haven for marine turtles, dolphins and the dugong.

Important tourist destinations in Bali

In all of Indonesia, Bali receives the most number of tourists annually. There are so many wonderful tourist destinations in Bali, which highlight and showcase the islands diversely rich culture. Bali is also an architectural marvel where the native structures are interspersed with modern, yet Balinese- inspired hotels. Here are a few tourist sites that you may want to include in your list when you visit Bali:

  • Kecak and Fire Dance at Uluwatu Temple
  • Monkey Forest beside the Uluwatu Temple
  • Tirta Empul (Temple of the Holy Spring)
  • Pura Ulun Danu Bratan – Bedugul Highlands
  • Kintamani and Mount Batur
  • Bas Coffee and Tea Plantation
  • Goa Lawah (Balinese Bat Cave)

Aside from these renowned tourist sites in Bali, you can also opt to see the island in a bicycle, which is popular among tourists.  Some tours combine cycling, canoeing and hiking through Bali’s more remote areas.  Also of course, there’s lots of shopping to be done in Bali!
