Another year has passed. After 12 months of thrilling experience in photography travels, shutterbugs gathered together again in Kuala Lumpur to share their experiences and off course the many breathtaking travel photos they have taken for the past year. The venue was off course the largest travel photography festival of the year in Malaysia, the Kuala Lumpur Photography Festival and Free Independent Travel Exchange (FITE) 2013, at the Mid Valley Exhibition Centre from 11th to 13th of October.

The theme for FITE 2013 was “Above the clouds…..the Himalayas” which included a travel photography exhibition and interaction with expert guides from Nepal. The exhibition will showcase photographs from the regions that share the mystiques of the Himalayas – among them are Nepal, Darjeeling, Kashmir, Sikkim, Bhutan, Tibet, etc.

Free Independent Travel Exchange 2013 is the part that I’m most interested in. There were talks about travel photography experiences by various travelers and photography hobbyists of Malaysia.  There were also inspiring programs such as Travelmania (travel talk and slideshow), travel photography exhibitions, travel forum and experience sharing.

If you are planning a trip to Nepal and Himalayas, FITE 2013 was definitely a one-stop event to gather all informations you need to know. Gallery featuring awesome travel photos taken by various travelers was a good reference for shutterbugs.

Besides talks and photo gallery, tourism organizations from various countries had also put up their individual booths or stages to showcase their inspiring tourist attractions. Thailand was perhaps the biggest player in the show where various tourism highlights are being demonstrated.

One of the promotional banners that attracted me was the Time for Taiwan Photo Contest, which runs from December 1st until end of March of year 2014. It says, “Send in your attractive travel pictures of Taiwan and stand a chance to win attractive prizes.” Coincidentally, I’m going to Taiwan this December and it could be fun to have a project for my travel.

Off course, I visited the main event, Kuala Lumpur Photography Festival (KLPF) 2013.

This year, the KLPF takes on the subject “Heaven on Earth” with the aim of encouraging people to love and appreciate the beauty that our mother earth has created for us.

Key players in the imaging industry have participated to exhibit their latest innovation and technology in the photo & imaging equipment/accessories. Besides that, there were product demonstrations by some of the biggest names in the photographic industry.

Thanks to the photo and imaging suppliers or manufacturers, there were gorgeous models being invited to help promoting the products. As usual, these ladies have become the shooting target (shooting photos off course! 🙂 ) for most photography hobbyists who attended the event.

The KLPF & FITE is the most comprehensive event that sees the biggest gathering of photographers and travellers. Visiting Free Independent Travel Exchange 2013 and Kuala Lumpur Photography Festival 2013 can actually kill two birds with one stone. Having said that, if you were hoping for some of the latest camera models being displayed or announced by those big players, you would be disappointed.

This wraps up my brief after thought of the event. Information and updates are available at Facebook KLPFMalaysia or http://www.klpf.com.my. – Travel Feeder
