Planning your weekend trip to Florence is much easier and cheaper than other tourist destinations. You can get a cheap train tickets to the city central SMN station for less than EUR30 single travel from other Italian regions. If you are traveling from within Italy, Trenitalia is always the cheapest train operator. Walking out of the station and you are already in the heart of Florence historical part of the city. All within walking distance, simply pick up all or any of the following relaxing activities and you can enjoy your cheap weekend breaks right away.

  1. In the morning, climb the tower stairs in Duomo, the most famous cathedral in Florence. On top of it, you can have the best view of the city, though you need to climb up some 460 steps of the spiral staricase to reach to the top.

  2. Visit the Accademia Gallery after that. Spend some hours relaxing yourself and to find out the original David, the greatest sculpture done by my favorite sculptor Michelangelo.
  3. Walk along the Arno, the main river of florence, and across the Vecchio Bridge, the oldest and most famous bridge over the Arno River. Along the Vecchio Bridge there are shops selling jewelries, arts and souvenirs. Do remember to view the marvelous evening scene along the river with the Vecchio Bridge.
  4. Catch the beautiful night scene of the whole Florence from hill top at the Piazzale Michelangelo, south of the old town. Photograph the night scene of florence is definitely worth your time setting up your camera and tripod.
  5. If you wish to have some excitement at night, after having a wonderful Italian dinner and gelato dessert, visit the famous Irish Pubs or Bebop for a pint or two could also be a great idea to end your day in Florence.
  6. In the next morning, wake up earlier and take a walk at the San Lorenzo open market. You may able to find a good deal on those high quality local leather products such as shoes, bags, wallet or whatsoever.
