Top 5 Photos taken on my Western Europe Tour

One of the best things to do on our travel to Western Europe would be taking enormous quantities of photos. The reasons why are obvious. First, we had the amazing architectures with rich historical value as our photographic subjects. Secondly, we could have the best natural sunlight in Europe with clear blue sky and bright but not harsh sunlight. See? Great subject and great lighting, can’t we shot beautiful photos?

On my sightseeing tour to central Europe earlier this year, though there were some unexpected increment weather which was not usual at that time of late Spring, we still have had plenty of sunlight and blue sky. I managed to snap quite a number of shots during the trip. Then my friend Abi brought out this idea for me to showcase some of my favourite photos of my Europe tour. I flipped through all my photos and finally picked these 5 photos as my favourite, though had a real hard time to decide on the top 5 best.

1) The Tower Bridge of London. The famous landmark of London which crossing the main River Thames. Many thought it is London Bridge but it is not. London Bridge is another smaller bridge next to tower Bridge which is rather unattractive to tourists.

2) St. Paul Cathedral. Measuring 111m high, this Anglican cathedral is the highest church in London and UK. It was built in 604AD with fantastic architecture to admire. I love the West end of the cathedral where there is the clock tower and the eight high round pillars. Among the most famous marriage ceremony being held at St. Paul Cathedral was between Prince Charles and Lady Diana, in case you’d like to know.

3) Eiffel Tower of Paris. I love this photo of Eiffel Tower in Paris because of the evening sunlight and rainbow over the fountain. The magnificent Paris town planning is well proven here. I shot this photo of Eiffel Tower from one end before a fountain pond at Palais De Chaillot monument. Looking through the iron tower in a straight line, one can actually spot the Ecole Military Training building at the other far end with Seine River and Champs De Mars garden in between, all in a perfect straight line!

4) Notre Dame cathedral of Paris. An awesome Gothic architecture design found in Paris. It is one of my top 5 popular travel site in Paris. It was also the backdrop for Victor Hugo’s famous novel of  The Hunchback of Notre Dame. The perfect evening sunlight and strong architectural impact of Notre Dame made this photo my favourite

5) Gondolas and the Grand Canal in Venice. This is a typical scene captured by many other travelers or photographers in Venice. I love Venice. I love taking photos of the buildings, canals, bridges in Venice. There are simply gorgeous! In order to capture a better natural sunlight, I stayed up late along the Grand Canal waiting for the evening sun.

All above photos were taken with my Nikon D60 attached with the Tamron SP10-24mm Ultra wide angle lens.

I love these 5 photos. I hope you like them too. 🙂 Check out my full London travel itinerary to see more photos. Also my Travel by Photos stories on destination in Paris.
