Travel Snapshot – Yandai Xiejie or Smoking Pipe Byway in Beijing

A travel photo on the popular spots for travelers visiting Beijing, Yandai Xiejie street, or the Smoking Pipe Byway, one of the oldest hutong in Dongcheng district of Beijing. We went in there for a walk after wandering other nearby hutong areas such as NanLuoGuXiang (simplified Chinese: 南锣鼓巷) and having our pot stewed pig’s intestine with baked wheat cakes lunch at Gulou Dong Dajie.

Yandai Xiejie (烟袋斜街) is 232 meters (253 yards) long with its east end on the Di’anmen Street and the west to the Yinding Bridge. There are many restaurants, cafes, souvenirs and antique shops along the street.

There are more than 20 cafés and bars with different styles on the street, among which are the Night of Yinding, the largest café in the Shichahai area, the Red Mansion, the Sea Bar, the Show Place Café, and the Wenshi Café. Houhai, the inner lake of Beijing is at the back of the street and one can have a cup of coffee when tired and enjoy the beautiful scenery.

Spent half day at Yandai Xiejie including a drinking session in one of the bars along Houhai is surely a rewarding experience in Beijing. 🙂 – Travel Feeder
