Peaceful Places to Visit in Britain If You Prefer Slow Pace Travel

When talking about going on holiday, it always seems to be what can you see, where can you visit and what attractions can you get around and enjoy. If you are someone that prefers to take life at a slower pace, stopping to smell the flowers and take in the gorgeous views, this guide is for you.

Britain

Britain is full of spectacular natural beauty from the breath-taking Clo Mor Cliffs in Scotland to the golden shores of quaint Cornwall in England. Whatever captures your heart, the United Kingdom is sure to deliver in pristine, tranquillity. There are even a few islands that can be reached for a true off-the-grid holiday to remember.

Countryside Concord

Contrary to popular opinion, Britain only has development on approximately 6% of the available land space. Which means a huge 94% of the UK isn’t urban, instead made up of pastures, arable land, forest, moors, beaches and wetlands – this is great for visitors looking for pretty places to stroll through. To truly immerse yourself in the excellence of the incredible British countryside, visitors can stay in a caravan park and camp under the stars in a tent. If you find yourself falling in love with the campsite experience, there are even a few residential caravans, like these five Pendeford Hall park homes in Wolverhampton, so you can make your tranquil holiday an every-day reality.

Britain has a few national parks to choose to spend your time when staying in the country, for variety, consider the Exmoor National Park in West Somerset. A huge expanse of awe-inspiring terrain, from dense woodland to rolling hills and bubbling rivers that chase into a striking coastline. The area is known as an International Dark-Sky Reserve with controlled light pollution to ensure the stars are visible at night, so drop by here after sunset for a star-watching sensation.

Peaceful City Haven

Most visitors coming to the UK tend to spend some of their time in the English capital, London, which is unsurprisingly due to the wealth of attractions and sights to see. However, with all those workers, visitors and tourists, it can get very busy and not the least overwhelming. Soho Square, around the back of Oxford Street is a small green patch of tranquillity which makes for the perfect escape on a busy afternoon in the city.

Sunday also makes for a perfect day to visit the capital, while the tourists and visitors from other UK locations will still be around, the stressed commuters and their entourages will be at home, so you’ll have more room to enjoy yourself.

Isolate Yourself

If getting away from it all means taking yourself away from people in general, the UK has a place for you. Bardsey Island, in Gwynedd, off the coast of Wales, is a small island nature reserve with only 12 houses of which 9 are rented as holiday accommodation to potential visitors to the island. Reachable by 20-minute ferry journey, visitors heading to Bardsey can expect to see plenty of wildlife including adorable seals and noisy gulls. Although, visitors should be aware there is no electricity, so you are truly heading off-the-grid and disconnecting yourself from the instant, digital world.

Should Bardsey Island be a bit too detached from society, Lundy Island off the coast of Devon, is England’s first Marine Conservation Zone and once a refuge to fearsome pirates. There’s only one shop and one pub and measuring only 3 miles at the longest point so don’t expect to see any cars either. All but one of the rental properties have electricity and running water and it takes two hours to reach the island by ship or if the weather is too hazardous, a helicopter ride lasting seven minutes will take you from the mainland to the island.

Where will you visit on your next trip to Britain? Fancy a stroll through the quaint British countryside surrounded by the picturesque villages? Does the capital and its quiet corners capture your attention, or would you rather spend a holiday in almost complete solitude, away from the hustle and bustle of every-day life. Whatever your preference, Britain looks forward to welcoming you. – Travel Feeder
