‘Must-try’ Spanish Tapas at Elisabets Restaurant, Barcelona

Tapas, the most desirable Spanish cuisine for travelers visiting Spain. It is one of the local food I eagerly wished to try when I was in Barcelona. There are too many restaurants and bars serving tapas in Barcelona and I managed to dined in a few of them. Elisabets Bar and Restaurant is the one I would recommend to others.

Elisabets Restaurant1

Elisabets is located at Carrer d’Elisabets 2-4 which is a side lane connecting to La Rambla, the main shopping and dining area of Barcelona. If you are strolling down La Rambla from Catalunya, Carrer d’Elisabets road junction is on your right after Boadas restaurant and before Hotel Royal, before the Carrefour Market. Without fancy outlook, it could be easily overlooked when you walk along the street.

We popped in when we were looking for restaurant serving dinner and found it was packed with local patrons as well as tourists, but we did not realize it is actually ranked 3rd out of 882 restaurants in Spain by Lonely Planet! πŸ™‚

Elisabets Restaurant2

Not without reasons, Elisabets Bar & Restaurant is famous for its delicious tapas with unbeatable value for money. Looking at the menu above and you can understand why, tapas choices from €2 per serving, potato tortilla at €2.50 and coffee from €1.10! πŸ™‚ Tapas could be ordered as either starter, snacks during drinking, supper or even dinner if combined a few of them.

We ordered a few tapas for our dinner. After a long hot afternoon strolling, nothing could be better than drinking a Leffe beer as starter!

Elisabets Restaurant4

The cosy setting of the restaurant with decorative brick at one side of the wall. From the signage hung on the wall, Elisabets Bar and Restaurant should be established since as early as 1962.

The other side of the wall are decorated with picture frames and vintage collection of radios.

Spanish Tapas2

Finally, our tapas is here! These are the few choice recommended by the friendly waiters as popular dishes loved by most others.

Spanish Tapas3

Irresistible Spanish ham! From what it shows in the photos, I would say the portion is quite generous to its price. We couldn’t finish them all until we had to offer to share with the two guys sitting next to us! This is another great way to make friends around… We just met 2 friends from Spain and German! πŸ™‚

Spanish pizza

I supposed this is Spanish pizza, rectangular shaped instead of round as we normally see elsewhere.

Elisabets Restaurant7

WeΒ  had a great and memorable evening at Elisabets Restaurant. The dishes we had are top grade and prices are reasonable, if not cheap. The food quality is far more superior than what we had in many other European cities. Barcelona in general is a great travel destination to enjoy your holidays with top quality Spanish cuisine as well as street foods but will never burn a hole in your pocket!
