A Look Back at my Best Travel Stories in 2013

We set 5 travel habits to break this year a few days ago. Now we shall look back a little while at what had happened to this travel photo blog during last year. Year 2013 was a year full with traveling excitement for me. Traveling around the world did not being slowed down at all last year, even though I was up to my throat in my daytime job. The travel highlight of the year was surely my first ever trip to Korea. In fact there were 3 first ever travels last year, including Taiwan and Chiang Mai trips. So you can bet many exciting travel stories were being shared here last year. Let’s have a look back at 5 of my best travel stories in 2013.

Best travel stories - Japan

1) Top 5 reasons why Japan is the perfect travel destination

Being the first of all best travel stories in 2013, it was a conclusive story of how I feel about Japan after my two Japan trips in Spring and Autumn 2012.

There are hundreds of travel destinations around the world that frequented by hundreds of Millions travelers each year. To me, a perfect travel destination is a place where we can fully enjoy our holidays with great things to do, mouth watering foods to eat, breathtaking scenery to wander, without worrying about the culture, weather, people and most importantly not to jeopardize our safety.

I’ve traveled to some 45 cities in Europe, Asia and Australia. Out of 18 countries that I’ve been to, including Korea and Taiwan I visited later on last year, I still love Japan most. I would say by far Japan is my picked of the perfect travel destination for any traveler.

Best travel stories - Korea

2) My first night in Seoul and Korea part 1/2 – Myeongdong explore

I went for holiday to Korea last May and this was the post I kick started my travelogue in Korea which received tremendous responses.

After 6 and a 1/2 hours flight from LCCT of KLIA, Sepang, we finally touched down at the Incheon International Airport in Seoul at 4:30pm local time (Korea is 1 hour ahead of Malaysia). We still felt quit refreshed after the long haul flight in Airasia X premium flatbed seats. The boarding and immigration process were swift without any delay since no entry Visa was needed for Malaysian passport holder.

We took the Airport Express rail (AREX) service for KW3,950 in a commuter train to get us to the Seoul Station in city centre in about 53 minute. Don’t confuse it against the Express train which cost KW13,000 in an express direct train to reach Seoul Staion in 43min. As I booked my hotel in MyeongDong for easy access to most of the local attractions, we needed to transfer to Myeongdong subway station for additional KW200 by T-Money (normal fare is KW1,000) which is 2 stops away by Subway Line 4 (View the online Seoul Subway map).

Best travel stories - Chiang Mai

3) A few of my favourite Chiang Mai travel photos

I had a family trip to Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai in November last year.

Since we joined a ground guided tour in Chiang Mai, I would not hope to have the best timing to shoot great Chiang Mai travel photos along the way either. But surprisingly, thanks to the perfect sunlight for all 6 days, I did still able to capture some great scenes around the city which I wish to share them here first. This is the story to showcase some of the best photos I took during the trip.

4) Top 15 Taiwan local foods to try

I made a Winter trip to Taiwan in December last year. It was cool and windy with little sunshine during our visit in Taiwan. Nevertheless, it couldn’t stop us from trying many of the delicious local food in Taiwan.

The first thing I always love to share after my travel would be the local foods. Still remember the top local foods to try in Korea? Or the mouth watering delicacies from Japan? What about local foods of Taiwan? This story listed down top 15 Taiwan local foods to try whenever you visit Taiwan, in random order.

Best travel stories - Malaysia

5) Top 10 most popular beches to visit in Malaysia

Further to the highly regarded story of the top places to visit in Malaysia, the top attractions of visiting Malaysia and also the top travel secrets in Kuala Lumpur, I’ve shared a story about Malaysian best beaches last year.

Benefited from the tropical weather with year round sunshine and the geographical location as peninsular with seas bordering 3 sides, Malaysia features numerous long sandy beaches across the nation. For a travel bloggerresiding in this beautiful country for a long time, I could consider myself an insider who can justify liberally to recommend 10 of the most frequented beaches found across both the West and East coast of West Peninsula Malaysia, as well as the East Malaysian state of Sabah and Sarawak.

In conjunction with the Visit Malaysia Year 2014, these stories will literally help you in planning a holiday to Malaysia.

This wraps up my pick of 5 best travel stories in 2013 that I’ve shared on this travel photo blog, the Travel Feeder. Having said that, great travel stories never stopped just here. There were many other exciting stories, tips and guides you should also read before planning your next vacation travel, especially destinations that I have visited. I hope you like them as much as I do… 🙂 – Travel Feeder
